Blast Cubicle Assembly

Blast Shelter Design:

BlastCubicle is designed to serve as a single module with blast walls on all four sides or as modules of a larger structure with blast walls on all exterior walls and roof. BlastCubicle is designed to fit within standard military tents or in preexisting interior locations. BlastCubicle consists of a tubular steel frame, formed wall channels made of cold formed, light gauge steel and exterior blast panels and interior wall panels made of 12 and 16 gauge sheet steel, respectively. These components are compactly packaged and are shipped to the site with all necessary hardware and structural adhesive. Individuals with a minimum of construction skills and readily available hand tools, can assemble a BlastCubicle within hours.

How is the blast protection shelter assembled?

Building a BlastCubicle begins with assembling the tubular steel frame. This is done by attaching cross Bastogne Blast Shelter assembly videomembers with steel keys inserted into slotted tongues and then inserting sleeves into the four legs and joining the top and bottom frames together. Once the frame is complete the cold formed wall channels are then attached to the frame by means of screws and structural adhesive. If a door frame is utilized, it is also joined to the frame and the wall channels by screws and adhesive. The floor and roof panels are placed into position in the same manner as the wall channels. Once the wall, floor and roof channels are in place, the exterior blast shield (12 gauge steel sheet) and the interior wall Adding sand to the Bastogne Blast Cubiclepanels (16 gauge steel sheets) are attached with screws and adhesive. Wood flooring is added to the floor and ceiling panels are attached to the roof channels. After assembly and final positioning is complete, sand is poured through holes in the frame that match holes in the wall channels. Similar holes are located in the bottom frame and wall channels thus allowing the sand to be emptied should relocation of the BlastCubicle become necessary.
